Well said. How is, as some one so crassly put it, "an immature and distraught youngster", ever going to learn about maturity if those with whom he argues sink to his level?
And, as PieXags says, this was not an inappropriate post. It was placed in the right forum. It wasn't, at least in the first post, inflammatory in an way, shape or form. If you don't like it, fine. But be reasonable. If the OP isn't, then just put him on your ignore list. That's what they're for after all.

Let's not feed the troll.
He offers nothing of substance, over, and over, and over again. Every single post of his is nothing but a blatant display of ignorance that's designed to get people up in arms and falling over each other to correct his point of view. He's probably just farming postcounts for a custom title. To show others how '1337' he is.

I'm sorry, SuperVixen but how does -this- post...his original post constitute immaturity or any attempt at a flame to anyone? It didn't lack any more substance than a LOT of the posts on the IDEAS FORUM.

This is a flame. This is garbage and it only disintegrated from there.
I'm not a big fan of GuildPowder. I have found many of his posts offensive. For once though he didn't ask for what he got.

In response to supervixen's post:
That's the kind of shit I'm talking about, it's you sort of people who're 'causing all this stuff to be so "bad". I didn't see anything wrong with his post, it was better than half the other suggestions we get around here.
His post doesn't show any signs of "ignorance" just personal preference, and if you don't like it why post something like THAT. That wasn't even on topic, it was just an insult and that sort of shit should be kept in yer mouth, not on the forums.
Another thing I realized about his suggestion...
Yeah the more I think about it the more I think it'd be cool to have /age displayed through emote chat. It isn't hurting ANYONE, if you don't want to see it chances are you don't want to see any other emote text either so just turn it off, and for those who do want others to see it they can share their info. I often times am curious as to just how long someone's been playing, and I think it might be neat to see others stats and what not.
To be honest I care more about how long someones been working on a character than I do that someone's "rank 9".

Yes, the thread is in the right place. I never said it wasn't. However.
Much as I applaud both your vociferous defense of the thread opening, I stand by my opinion that it's merely a vehicle for him to stir things with words like, "People like you are not dedicated to games and only play them for short whiles." and "I leave GW open when i post so when they finally implement /age so everyone can see it i will have the most hours and most exp."
To avoid more hijacking, I'll add my two dinars.
I find implementing such a thing goes against the credo of skills > time spent in the game. No it doesn't hurt to have it in the emotes side of the chat panel but I'm more of the thought that the less text the better.
/rank is linked to PvP which is, if not what the game revolves around, still a major portion of what Guild Wars is about. Hours spent afking in the game however...
Yes, it takes little skill to farm. It still takes more skill to farm gold compared to leaving the game open while you go about doing other things.

I'd suggest anyone who may be flaming and/or cussing stop immediately, it's what your account would want.

Oh, heheh.
Nearly forgot my addition to the age list.
Now wouldn't it be neat to let those who enjoy reading emote text know that I've been playing on that one character for so many hours? I'm proud of that, honestly. Every moment of it spent working on new builds, new secondary professions, getting new elites, I feel so proud. More proud than if I had rank 4 in fact...

in response to Aniewiel: Good job Anie, you guys are f'ing mean!
My age got reset In the last big patch (not the recent one, one before that)... so the result was I had a level 20 ascended fire ele who was 15 hours old
Hopefully it got sorted, cuz in actuality I was like 120 hours old at that point. And myself, I think it would be cool to show your age with a different command. Maybe like /ageall or something.

If that were the case then I, among others who posted prior to me, would be better than you. (using your logic from this and previous posts)
It is for this reason, that I don't think that an /ageall command is necessary, because much like the /rank command, it doesn't show anything to the skill of the player. Only how much time they've used up playing this game. As fun as it is, not something I necessarily want to share with everyone when I'm curious for myself.

Here's why I responded like I did. If you look at the majority of Guild Powder's threads, they not only read like a 12 year old wrote them, but they all have to do with his incessant need to show off his "time served" mentality. I snapped, to a point, and started spitting troll food. I know that I shouldn't have, but I couldn't help myself after reading 3 other threads that he started on similar "show off to my buddies" topics. I know deep in my heart, that my responses will not stop him from making the next inane "idea thread" for this game. But I did it anyway.

perhaps "better" doesn't mean "more skilled" but means "more interesting"... I don't really PvP often so rank doesn't mean anything to me, but I just love the /age and /deaths commands. And if anyone has noticed, when only one person in a party tells the group their age or their deaths the age AND deaths of every other member will quickly follow. It's fun to share this information. It's not about "hey I'm 300 hours old and you're only 80, so your a stoopid noob!" It's just about sharing more of our fun with others.

When I first saw the tittle of this thread I thought it was about showing your real life ages. I then thought...hmmmm, this has some possiblilities. It would be helpful sometimes to know what the real age of people that I am dealing with so I can better understand where they are coming from.
As for know how much playing time I have built up..."I" do not want to know. If that info got out to my wife then there would be Hell to pay. She would rip me a new one for sure.

I've been playing for 464+ hours, don't you think I'd know that by now?
And why the hell are you telling me this anyway? I...know, I've known...since it happened.
You just like to sound smarter than you are by picking through peoples posts and warping their words to find some creative behind the scenes message that you coax up in your mind so you can "correct" this would-be flaw in order to make yourself seem higher than someone else, is that it?
Haha...god I'm an ass.
But seriously...I know. I don't know where you got from my posts that...I didn't know.

...Are you 29? (Let me know if I'm wrong I did this with half a mind and numbers I...thought were kinda correct. Hopefully I hit the right keys as well.
It would be difficult to tell your birthday though, if you're 29 and depending on the amount of lengthened years we've had in that amount of time, if each one meant an hour it could be on one of two days without us knowing 'eh?
Well I'm already WAY off by this point anyway I'll bet...so...hmm...birthday...
Hell I don't know? Is it in the summer time? July something? How about...July? August perhaps? There's no way to pinpoint the date unless you go through a shitload of decimals and all kinds of stuff and I don't like math...

I just stay logged in all day - so my 'time spend' is very high, but I may not play much.
So /age really does mean something...
